This past Friday, Bill had to take the Houston Christian Swim team to San Antonio for the state swim meet. The school got him a hotel room for the night, so we decided to go up and join him, stay at the hotel, see the Alamo on Saturday, and then return back home. The boys were so excited to stay in a hotel and had a great time. I didn't get a picture of the room, but it was really nice. In the hotel, we allowed the boys to jump on the bed, so they played all sorts of jumping games from one bed to another. They even put on a play of "Daniel in the Lions Den" for us.
The next day, we had the hotel's free continental breakfast. I love this picture of Brady and Major. They were being so cute at breakfast together. I realized that this was Major's first night away from home! (Except for the hospital, of course. :) )
Saturday was a little chilly and rainy, but we made the most of it. Here are the boys at the Riverwalk right after a yummy lunch of Mexican food!
On our way to the Alamo...I love when they hold hands like this. They really are best friends!
Brady and Eli in front of the Alamo. We discussed what happened at the battle of the Alamo for much of the trip to San Antonio. They were very excited to see where it all happened, but had a hard time understanding how the Texans could lose this battle, but end up winning the war. It will make sense as they get older.
It was so neat to walk around with Eli. He had so many questions and would listen to all my answers. As a history teacher, I loved getting to teach him about the Alamo, what happened, why it happened, and how it effects us today. As he was sitting on this cannon he kept yelling, "I'm going to kill all the Mexicans!" At the top of his lungs. I had to tell him that we really can't yell things like that in public. :)
My cute little Brady took his turn "killing some Mexicans" as well. Funny how they both decided they were going to be Texans, even though I explained to them that choosing to be Texans also meant that they were choosing to die. They both said that they would not have died, they would have gotten away. :) We had some really great family time on Saturday. Hopefully, we can make this trip again, soon!
