Major's Photo Shoot

I have had both of Major's grandmothers ask me for a photo of him lately. They are both trying to do an array of photos for a grandchild, but neither of them have a picture of just Major. So today, I took him out to downtown Montgomery and took a few pictures for the grandmothers. These were taken on December 30th, 2014. Major is about 2 weeks shy of being 3 1/2.

These first 5 in front of the brick and on the stairs are in front of the church on Dexter Ave. in downtown where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. preached during the Civil Rights Movement.

The next 3 (the ones in front of the Christmas tree) were taken outside of the Judicial building.

This is Court Square, it has seen a few key moments in history. It is the spot where Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her seat to a white man, effectively beginning the Civil Rights Movement. It also saw the inaugural parade for Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederacy during the Civil War. And it is also where the Union soldiers marched past when they took control of Montgomery and the state of Alabama. Finally, it is the spot where Civil Rights protesters (including Dr. King) marched past during their march from Selma to Montgomery.
The next 5 pictures were taken at Old Alabama Towne. It is a collection of buildings from the 1800s that display what life was like in Alabama 200 years ago.

This last picture is in front of a run down old barber shop. I have no idea when it was open or when it closed, but it looked to be from the 50s and 60s. Bill thought it looked pretty cool, so we stopped and took a picture.
Now the grandmothers should have plenty to choose from!
