January 2020

In January 2020, we had no idea what lay ahead of us for the year. I am writing this in January of 2021, and I have an entire year to look back on and know what is going to happen for this year. Although many have deemed 2020 the worst year of our lifetime, I don't look at it the same way. In January of 2020, we heard rumors of a virus in China. A virus that had shut their country down. And although we heard these rumors, we didn't fully believe that it could come to us and affect us the way it did them. The virus, did, of course, come to the United States and to the world and in mid-March, we completely shut down the United States. As the Ed Tech Specialist for our school, it was my job to turn our school from completely brick and mortar to completely online in a week. I believe I did this successfully, and my efforts in this would result in my promotion in the summer of 2020 to Director of Educational Technology for the school. But before I get to ahead of myself, I wanted to say again that I do not look at this as the worst year in my lifetime. I look at this as a time where we got to spend a great deal of time as a family. As a time where we didn't have to run in a million different directions for sports and school and all the activities that take place in a year. It was a quieter, calmer time where we were together as a family. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

In January though, we lived life as normal. Enjoyed family time, work, school, and Brady played basketball. Brady's basketball games are the only photos I have for January, so please enjoy them here. As I said in last year's book, Eli decided last year would be his final year to play basketball, and Major isn't old enough for school ball, so Brady was the only one playing this season. It was nice to be able to focus on just him for the season.
