The first couple of weeks of March was a lot of baseball. Eli and Brady both played well and it was fun to see them on the same team. In mid-March; however, everything changed and we went on a nation-wide lock down to try and slow the spread of the new virus referred to COVID-19 or Coronavirus. The worry was that hospitals would be overrun and people would not be able to receive medical care, so the goal was to slow the spread of the disease so hospitals and clinics could continue to provide care for those who need it. The decision was made across the country that the rest of the school year would be conducted online, so that meant I had to transition our school to an online platform in a week that would be used for the next 9 weeks of school. The transition was quick and I believe went the best it could with the knowledge and tools I had at the time. At the time, we believe this would only be for a week or two, we did not realize we would not be coming back to school for the rest of this school year. And as I write this in January of 2021, there are still many schools across the nation who have not gone back to in-person learning due to fears over the Coronavirus. I am thankful I work for a school who went back to in-person learning in August, but I will discuss that more when the time comes for it. At the end of the pictures for this month, you can see our school from home set up. Everyone around the dining room table. Bill's job was to teach Major, and Eli and Brady watched their lessons from their teachers online on the computer and then completed whatever work was assigned. Our work day was from about 8 am to 2 pm. My set up was in the kitchen on the desk in there. I had to have my own space. Since my job is the school's technology, I was helping students, parents, and faculty/staff from about 7 am to midnight. It felt like the never-ending work day for me, but we got it done, and for that, I am proud. I never thought to get a picture of my work station, but I had a computer with external monitor and iPad, not to mention the phone where people where texting me going at all times of the day and night.
Also in March, Bill turned 43. Since everything was closed down, we had a nice birthday at home with fishing and cake.
